As a society, we are run by our members. Each year, our members nominate and executive team and directors who manage the day-to-day operation of our society.
Our Executive Directors
Luke is president of Friends of Hudson’s Hope.
As President, Luke is responsible for overseeing and running our team meetings, supporting our team, prioritizing our goals, and representing our society . As president, Luke is a spokesperson, advocate, and representative of Friends of Hudson’s Hope.
He was elected to the board in April 2024.
Outside of his work with Friends, Luke is a Community Chaplain, working throughout our community, and lead minister at Hudson’s Hope Chapel. He is married to Ruth, and has a daughter, Isobel.
Jim serves as vice president of Friends of Hudson’s Hope. Jim is involved in all areas of our society, and fulfils the role of president when our president is not available. Jim oversees maintenance of our properties, including at our laundromat, bringing his knowledge and experience to our organization.
He was elected to the board in April 2024.
Ruth is Secretary of Friends of Hudson’s Hope. As secretary she helps ensure that the Friends operates effectively, through administration and compliance, preparing for our meetings, and other key duties. She also works in our thrift store, and oversees other projects such as the “Little Free Pantry”.
She was elected to the board in April 2024.
Outside of Friends of Hudson’s Hope, Ruth works at the local school, oversees children’s work, and administration at Hudson’s Hope Chapel. She is married to Luke and they have a daughter, Isobel.
Nancy is our treasurer. She oversees the day-to-day bookkeeping of the society, and manages our finances. Nancy helps ensure that we set realistic budgets for our project, and that we steward well those finances entrusted to us.
She was elected to the board in April 2024.

Our Directors
Joan is a director at Friends of Hudson’s Hope. In addition to her responsibilities on the board, helping steer the direction of our society, and oversee our effective management, Joan is active and involved in many areas of our organization. Joan is responsible for overseeing regular cleaning of our thrift store and laundromat, assists in our store, and brings much needed continuity to our board.
Joan has been a volunteer with Friends of Hudson’s Hope for many years, and was re-elected to our board in 2024, having previously been on our board before
Joan was born and raised in Victoria. Both of her children were born in Victoria. She moved to Husdons’s Hope B. C. in January of 1980, lived here for one year then lived in Campbell River for one year (1981 )and 3 years in Shalalth BC. in the Bridge River town site (1994-1997) where her Husband got permanent employment with B. C. Hydro. She has been living in Hudson’s Hope ever since.
Julie is a director at Friends of Hudson’s Hope. In addition to her responsibilities on the board, helping steer the direction of our society, and oversee our effective management, Julie has particular responsibility for overseeing volunteers at our thrift store. Julie helps recruit and train volunteers, maintain our volunteer schedule, and ensure that our store operates well.

Julie has lived in HH for 39 years and been a volunteer at the FOHH for 4 years. Julie says “I volunteer in order to give back to our community.”
Dorothy is a director at Friends of Hudson’s Hope. In addition to her responsibilities on the board, helping steer the direction of our society, Dorothy oversees our Food Bank, alongside Angie. Dorothy is active throughout our society, regularly volunteering in our store, and assisting wherever she is needed.
Dorothy was first nominated to our board in April 2024.
Edna is a director at Friends of Hudson’s Hope. In addition to her responsibilities on the board, helping steer the direction of our society, Edna is a regular volunteer in our thrift store, and brings a wealth of experience to our society.

Angie is a director at Friends of Hudson’s Hope. In addition to her responsibilities on the board, helping steer the direction of our society, Angie oversees our Food Bank, alongside Dorothy. Angie is active throughout our society, bringing a great deal of energy and enthusiasm to our board.
