What is a Little Free Pantry?
The mini pantry movement is a grassroots, crowdsourced solution to immediate and local need. Whether a need for food or a need to give, mini pantries help feed neighbours, nourishing neighbourhoods.
A mini pantry is an easy way for neighbours to help neighbours who need food, hygiene, or paper items.
Give what you can by placing food, hygiene, or paper items inside the mini pantry. Give what you would want to receive. An easy rule of thumb: buy extra of what you buy your household. No gift is too small. A single can of green beans can help. Items should be unexpired and in good condition.
Take what you need. If you need items in the pantry, take them and know we care about you. Please remember the mini pantry belongs to all of us and take only those items you need, trusting the mini pantry will be here for you again. There are no questions asked, and no application necessary — if it is there, and you need it, it is yours!
Even though its home is at our Laundromat, the mini pantry belongs to all of us. Please take care of it and the space around it. Tidy the mini pantry if it needs it. If you can, clean up spills, and please don’t litter.
Our Little Free Pantry is affiliated with the Little Free Pantry movement.
It does not replace our Food Bank or annual Christmas Food Drive Hampers, which are still available by application. Our Little Free Pantry is an extra way for people to get a little extra when things are tight, and is also available to those who may not qualify for, or need, regular food hampers, or as a way to top up in between parcels.
